Batu Aksoy, Board Member of Turcas, said they may hold a groundbreaking ceremony in October-November, depending on the prior engagements of Türkiye’s Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz. Aksoy added that the new power plant will have an installed capacity of 800 MW and will cost EUR 600 million, thus marking RWE’s entrance into the Turkish electricity sector.
