Invest News DetailBugun – Hurriyet - “Made in Türkiye” vehicles took center stage at the automotive industry’s biggest annual exhibition, the 63rd International Frankfurt Motor Show, held in Frankfurt, Germany. Following Renault’s selection of its Bursa plant in Türkiye for production of its new sedan, Fluence, Renault President Carlos Ghons said the company’s preferred production location remained the same for their first electric cars. Talking to reporters at the Frankfurt Motor Show, Ghons spoke of the importance of Türkiye as a production base for electric vehicles, adding “We will start production of the electric-powered ZE Fluence in Türkiye in 2011. Electric vehicles are expected to make up 10 percent of our sales by 2020. Türkiye will be the production base for this market segment.” Other electric-powered vehicles representing the Turkish automotive industry also took their place at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Toyota’s Auris hybrid, produced in Sakarya, and Ford Connect’s electric-powered version, BEV, drew attention as two of the first serial produced electric cars in Türkiye.
