In September 2021, Türkiye's Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) scored 52.5 points, as announced in the survey conducted jointly by the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce and HIS Markit.
The clothing and leather products sector headed the market with a PMI index of 55.9, followed by machinery and metal products with 54.7, and base metal industry with 53.9, observing a rise in all their sub-indices.
Base metal industry, machinery and metal products, and textile products constituted the top three sectors for the employment index.
New orders and output sub-indices have increased for almost all sectors, with a pick score for the clothing and leather products. Suppliers delivery time observed an increase across all sectors.
Following the shutdown in early 2020, the PMI exceeded the 50 threshold level 16 times in the last 17 months, demonstrating how strongly the manufacturing sector has rebounded.
