Rubellius Nucleus Investments SARL, overseen by Swiss asset management firm Rubellius Capital AG, increased its stake in Pomega Energy Storage Technologies to 2 percent. This latest transaction sees Rubellius invest a total of USD 8.4 million in Pomega through its venture capital investment fund.
Pomega, a subsidiary of Kontrolmatik Technologies, produces lithium-ion battery cells, modules, and turnkey energy storage systems. Their technological factory in Ankara, inaugurated in August 2023, serves as the hub for these innovative energy solutions.
Spanning a vast area of 100,000 square meters, the factory caters to diverse needs, from energy grid applications to household use. Initially commissioned with a capacity of 500 MWh, it is slated to reach 3 GWh when operating at full capacity.
"We are truly impressed by the Pomega team's exceptional speed in completing the initial phase of their battery manufacturing facility in Ankara, which culminated in its grand opening in late August 2023," remarked Rouben Zakharian, a Board Member and Senior Portfolio Manager at Rubellius Capital AG. “This accomplishment signifies a significant milestone and a transformative moment, as Pomega's gigafactory positions itself as the first and sole battery manufacturing plant focused on stationary energy storage applications in its region," Zakharian added.
Zakharian explained that the impressive progress observed prompted Rubellius Capital to exercise its option to increase its holdings in Pomega. This decision underscores Rubellius Capital's commitment as a long-term investor and further demonstrates its enthusiasm for supporting the company's ambitious growth plans.
