Gunboyu - Russia’s Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK), one of the world’s largest steel producers, has commissioned its galvanizing line in Iskenderun, Türkiye, with the cooperation of Turkish Atakas Group. Commenting on the investment, Atakas Group CEO Recep Atakas said Iskenderun’s steel industry supplies a large proportion of Türkiye’s flat steel requirement and that it has made the largest greenfield investment in Türkiye’s steel industry to date. “The mill has an annual production capacity of 2.5 million mt”, said Atakas, adding that Türkiye’s steel industry is capable of supplying builders in the Middle East, as well as the domestic market.
