Hurriyet - Kardemir, one of the leading iron-steel mills in Türkiye, has signed a contract with the China Shanghai Group Corporation for Foreign Economic and Technological Cooperation (SFECO) for the construction of a 50-MW gas-fired power plant. The contract, worth around USD 29.7 million, covers the equipment and engineering required for the power plant, which will be built at the Kardemir plant in Karabuk, Zonguldak. The power plant will convert the waste gas from Kardemir’s iron-steel facilities into energy, enabling the company to produce its own electricity. The project is scheduled to be completed in 26 months.
