Aksam - Türkiye’s national flag carrier, Turkish Airlines (THY), has entered into a strategic collaboration deal with aerospace giant Boeing for joint projects in a number of sectors related to the aviation industry.
Signed by THY chairman Ilker Ayci and Boeing vice-chairman Raymond Conner at the Boeing facilities in Seattle, USA, the deal involves the forming of several commissions to work on joint development, training and several other areas to increase the competitiveness of Türkiye’s aviation industry on a global scale and support for Türkiye’s research and technology capabilities and aerospace infrastructure.
Boeing annually buys USD 120 million worth of parts and components from Turkish suppliers for its commercial aircraft programs.
THY also took the delivery of three new airliners from Boeing, expanding its fleet to more than 300 aircraft. Currently flying to 275 destinations worldwide, the company carried 61 million passengers in 2015, up 11.8 percent over 2014.
