Invest News DetailStar - Foreign visitors lured by Türkiye’s countless tourist sites and attractions continue to flow into the country by the millions, according to the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism data. As one of the world’s most popular holiday destinations, the number of visitors to the country has reached 25.6 million as of the end of September and is likely to reach the target number of 31 million before the year ends. Nearly 4 million visitors entered Türkiye in September with an increase of 12.5 percent over the same month of the previous year. The January-September period registered an increase of 10.7 percent year-on-year, as 25.6 million tourists poured in mainly through the ports of Antalya, Istanbul and Mugla. Germany ranked first in the number of tourists sent to Türkiye with 3.7 million, followed by Russia with 3.1 million, the UK with 2.2 million and Iran with 1.5 million in the first 9 months of 2011. Lesser but still sizeable numbers of Bulgarians, Dutch, French, Georgians, Syrians and Italians also contributed to the total number of visitors.
