Turkish Airlines best in Europe

Milliyet – Turkish Airlines (THY), Türkiye’s flag carrier, has been voted the “Best Airline Europe” in Skytrax’s World Airline Awards 2011. According to over 18.8 million airline passengers from 100 countries surveyed by the London based Skytrax, THY’s service quality, young fleet and destination diversity helped the company beat competitors to be Europe’s best. THY also received awards in the “Best Premium Economy Seats” and “Best Airline Southern Europe” categories.

Presented to THY General Manager Temel Kotil in a ceremony held in Bourget, Paris, the award represents THY’s progress since last year when the airline was picked as the “Best Airline Southern Europe”. “It is a great accomplishment to be awarded Europe’s best airline, a first for a Turkish company in the aviation industry,” Kotil said at the ceremony. “We now aim to be Europe’s biggest airline company,” he continued, “a challenge that would require flights to new destinations and more passengers.”
THY has added new destinations to its network in the recent years, reaching 190 routes all over the globe. The company is increasingly preferred by passengers en-route to the Middle East, Central Asia and Far East with stop-overs in Istanbul, one of the busiest hubs for international air traffic.
