Invest News DetailMilliyet – Following the record amount of car sales in 2010, the newly released figures show a 26 percent increase in the Turkish automotive industry’s output, as the country’s automotive producers rolled out a total of 1,095,000 motor vehicles. According to Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD) statistics, Tofas, a Turkish-Italian joint venture, led the industry with over 312,000 vehicles produced, followed by Oyak Renault, which produced 307,083 units and Ford-Otosan with 242,070. Of the total vehicles produced in 2010, some 69 percent were exported, amounting to 754,000. Passenger car production in 2010 grew by 18 percent and reached 603,000 while commercial vehicle production grew at higher levels because of increased export demands. Light truck production went up by 306 percent, heavy trucks by 176 percent, and minibuses by 44 percent.
