Invest News DetailSabah - Türkiye is the regional center for Chinese network solutions provider Huawei’s global plans to become a top supplier of smart phones and tablet PCs. Already a key equipment producer for the world’s largest wireless network operators, the Chinese company aims for growth in new areas like handset production and home technologies. Huawei is the solutions provider for over 100 Turkish companies, including the mobile operators Turkcell, Vodafone and Avea, as well as the landline operator Turk Telekom. “Huawei’s near-term goals include becoming one of the top three producers of smartphones and a leader in home communication technologies,” said the company’s Corporate Communications Unit Head Ross Gan. Türkiye is a key country in that regard, as the company’s designated regional center for Central Asia and the Caucasus. “Huawei has long-term plans involving Türkiye, which the company considers to be a hub. Our research and development center in Istanbul stands as proof for Türkiye’s significance in our future plans,” Huawei executive noted. Huawei also plans to take part in Türkiye’s high-tech education program, the Fatih Project, and state-owned gas pipeline operator BOTAS’ energy projects, and is also interested in public tenders. Huawei’s new smart phone line and tablet PCs will be on the market by the first half of 2012.
