Yilmaz and Flaherty “positioned their financial system such that they were in a position to withstand the crisis”, Padraic Fallon, Chairman of Euromoney Institutional Investor Plc, said in Istanbul, where the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank held their annual meetings. In the past 11 months, Yilmaz has pared Türkiye’s benchmark interest rate by more than any other Group of 20 nations, cutting it by 9.5 percentage points to a record low of 7.25 percent.
