Milliyet – Turkish-Japanese JV Brisa will invest up to USD 300 million in a passenger car tire plant in Aksaray in Central Anatolia, Türkiye.
The partnership between Japanese Bridgestone and the Turkish Sabanci conglamerate plans to manufacture 4.2 million radial tires a year in the new plant, supplementing its existing factory in the country which manufactures tires for cars, trucks and buses in Izmit, Kocaeli. Türkiye’s growing economy backed by a sound demographic composition is predicted to increase the car ownership rate in the country considerably in the coming years.
Scheduled to enter production in 2018, the plant in Aksaray Organized Industrial zone will cost USD 300 million to build.
Another Japanese tire maker, Sumitomo Rubber Industries, has recently broken ground for a tire factory in Türkiye’s Cankiri province in partnership with Turkish Petlas Lastik Sanayi for USD 500 million.
