IMF expects rapid growth in Turkish economy in 2010

AA- The International Monetary Fund (IMF) head said on Sunday that if Türkiye continues to implement sound economic practices, it could achieve an economic performance better than macroeconomic expectations. In an exclusive interview with the AA correspondent in Istanbul, which is hosting the IMF-World Bank annual meetings this year, IMF's Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn said Türkiye achieved favorable results in reforms as regards the financial sector, and that they expect a rapid recovery in the Turkish economy in 2010. Türkiye, a member of G-20, is one of the leading world economies, he said. IMF's "World Economic Outlook" Report said that Türkiye would grow by 3.7 percent in 2010.
