Dünya – Tourists from all over the world continued to pour into Türkiye in 2012, exceeding 30 million arrivals in January-November period, according to data released by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
The number of foreign visitors rose by 0.59 percent to 30.4 million in the first 11 months of 2012, compared to the same period of 2011. Germany sent the highest number of tourists to Türkiye, numbering 4.8 million, followed by Russia with 3.5 million and the UK with 2.4 million during the January-November period.
At least a million more visitors are expected in Türkiye in December, taking the total number of tourists in 2012 to more than 31 million and generating an annual income of USD 23.5 billion for the ‘industry without chimney’.
Türkiye is the 6th most popular tourist destination according to the United Nations World Tourism Organization’s (UNWTO) Tourism Highlights 2012 Edition.
The country’s Mediterranean resort of Antalya is listed among Paris, London, New York and Singapore as one of the most visited tourist destinations in 2012.
